It has always been the tactility and physical process of painting which has inspired me, both in my own work and in the work of other artists. My work exhibits a continuing struggle between the energy and freedom of intuitive mark making and the need to design and analyse. Each painting represents a mirror which reflects an aspect of my emotional response to life and nature rather than trying to capture the look of a place or object. The goal is always to retain the initial freshness and energy of those first marks. 

I have exhibited locally on the East Coast and in the Yorkshire Dales and I am having my second solo exhibition at The Mandy Apple Gallery in Scarborough from the 13th to the 30th June 2024.
